Dump your paper user manuals

If you're like me, you've got dozens of paper user manuals lying around.  I've got them for my DVD recorder, bicycle helmet (why?), mini rug cleaner, car stereo (which I no longer own), barbeque, vacuum cleaner, bicycle rack and telescope.  I can't stand clutter, so I thought up a way to get rid of all my paper manuals:

1. Download your favorite desktop search program, (I recently moved to Copernic Desktop Search and I think it's much better than Google's product).
2. Download your product manuals in PDF format (almost any manual is available in PDF) and put them in an indexed folder.
3. Open your desktop search program and search!  When you search for text, you can actually read the PDF (sans images) inside the Copernic interface.  (Google Desktop Search will tell you which file the text exists in, but not on what page, or in what context).  The advantage of this method is that you don't have to remember where you put your product manuals on the rare occasion you need to search them.  I can search for vacuum filter and find the entry in my vacuum manual that tells me which type of filters to buy.  Easy!  Of course there is the advantage of having all of your files and e-mail searchable via the same interface.
4. Throw away your paper manuals!
